McAlester, Oklahoma Keynote 2015
@jgross811jaygrossproductions.org
So what do I think about a Keynote?
As cool as the other side of the pillow…
My Pack (All 6)
All either rescued from abuse cases or shelters…
My Boys…All adopted right out of
Central Michigan Areas…
My Wife… My Rock…
She holds us all together and allows me to do what I do…
Why all these family pictures
& stories?
So let’s get started…
#1 Always stop and look through our
students’ eyes
#2 Don’t be afraid to take a chance,
step out of that comfort zone, and try
something new. Innovation is DOING
new things!
#3 Inspire daily… yourself and those
around you.
#4 Realize this profession is a
gift…
The first thing I want you to always
remember…
Always remember what it
was like to be a kid…
Good Morning…
My name is Jay Gross. I am here today to talk to you about Communicating with today’s
students through technology. Let us take a moment and define communication. Dictionary.com
defines communication as:
the act or process of communicating; fact of being communicated.
the imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs.
something imparted, interchanged, or transmitted.
a document or message imparting news, views, information, etc.
passage, or an opportunity or means of passage, between places.
My Purpose today is give you some new ideas on how to exchange ideas with students.
I also want you to take a chance and step outside your comfort zones.
If there is time, I would like to tell you some stories.
So let us now talk about technology. Dictionary.com defines technology as:
the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their
interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial
arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science.
the terminology of an art, science, etc.; technical nomenclature.
a scientific or industrial process, invention, method, or the like.
the sum of the ways in which social groups provide themselves with the material objects of
their civilization.
Now that we have that straight, how do students today communicate?

The predators?
Then help educate the
victims BEFORE it
happens.
Relationships are there to

Staying in touch with former students & staff is
priceless

Every single child we come across has a
gift…
It is our mission to help them find the gift.
Help them Unwrap it. Help them polish
it. Help them use it.
They all have voices and all of them are
yearning to be heard…
Think about it for a second. What is
digital story technology without a story to
tell?
I am going to put a curse on you now…
There is this moment between taking
attendance and starting the class
period…
Take a moment and look directly into
their eyes for a moment…
If this were my last day teaching…
What would I say to them?
What would they remember about
me?
If I can touch their minds,
they might remember it.
If I can touch their hearts, it
just might embed in their
souls…
#1 Always stop and look through our
students’ eyes
#2 Don’t be afraid to take a chance,
step out of that comfort zone, and try
something new. Innovation is DOING

#3 Inspire daily… yourself and those

#4 Realize this profession is a

Thank you.
Today has been my honor…
All my best and then some…
