Page 1: Media double page spread

The masthead “Kickabout Conspiracy” suggests mystery due to the word “conspiracy” which encourages the reader to find out more. The masthead is made much larger than the rest of the text and is written in a unique font and coloured in a way that fits the house style. The masthead overall makes the band Blur seem mysterious and rebellious.

Main image takes up nearly the entire first page and therefore is the main focus and the feature that is most easily noticed and grabs the reader’s attention. Damon Albarn is wearing a t-shirt that fits in with the house style colours and he is posed casually to reflect the ‘effortlessly cool’ style of his band.

The colours of the house style are mostly pastel, with a vibrant orange added. This is could be done to reflect that even though a lot of Blurs music is chill and calm, they also have a rock-y and rebellious kick in their music, which throws through the vibrant linings. The house style overall has been designed to reflect the style of Blurs music.

The text within this double page spread article is organized very narrowly and symmetrically, which would cause the reader to read at a faster pace which could also be designed to reflect the fast paced nature of Blurs music, however it could also be done as this magazine would have been targeted at teenagers who would on average prefer to read less and simply skim through information.

An introductory paragraph is given before the actual article in a differently coloured box to either draw in the attention of the reader by not revealing everything written in the article, or to introduce the band to readers who may not be as familiar with the band and may be interested.

The quote extract from the article has been included in the center of the page, close to the masthead and to draw attention to it as it will make the reader want to know why Damon is saying this, encouraging the reader to find out more.
