FREQUENT FIRE HAZARDS IN MEDICAL LABORATORY
►Fire due to flammable chemicals, solids and oxidizing agents.
►Fire due to electrical short circuit
ALCOHOLS, ACETONES AND ETHERS AND CERTAIN STAINS.THEY IGNITE AT 60O C•Their volatility makes them
extremely hazardous.•They should not opened near open flame.•They should protect from spark or ignition
OXIDIZERS IN LABORATORY•Peroxides, Prchlorates, Nitrates etc.•They promote the fire and hence exhibit the fire hazard.
SAFETY AGAINST FIRE DUE TO FLAMMABLE
CHEMICALS
• Use “B” type fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire
• Never use water to contain such type of fire
• GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
