4.Deploying Windows 7 can overwhelming. The following resource includes 5, 2 minute videos that walkthrough the Windows 7 deployment process - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ff657745The videos cover the following:¨ Step 1: Create an Answer File¨ Step 2 - Build a Reference Installation¨ Step 3 - Create a Bootable Windows PE CD-ROM

Page 5: Midterm

¨ Step 4 - Capture the Customized Windows Installation¨ Step 5 - Deploy the Windows Image from a Network ShareWatch the videos mentioned above and complete the following:●Create a WinPE ISO with imageX.

5.This question will require bit of research. Assume that you have a customized computer thatyou wish to capture an image of to deploy to other computers. add a screenshot of how you would usesysrep to prepare the computer to be imaged and also be shutdown.

Page 6: Midterm

6.Assume that you’ve run sysprep successfully (from above) and your computer was shutdown. Now you have booted the computer from the WinPE boot disk created in step 4. Since you’ve bootedfrom the boot disk, you are at the command prompt as indicated below:

Write out the imageX command that you would use to capture the C drive of thiscomputer to a USB drive, which happens to be the D: drive.

Page 7: Midterm

ImageX/ capture “C:\” D:\images\Cdrive.wim “Hard drive Image”________________________________________________________________________7.On W7-1, create a new folder on C:\ called VHDSTORAGE (C:\VHDSTORAGE) as indicatedbelow

Now create a VHD called test1.vhd with the following specs:○Name: Test1.vhd○Virtual HardDisk Size: 200MB○Virtual Harddisk Format: Dynamically ExpandingInclude a screenshot from the disk management utility showing that the VHD has beencreated and mounted (similar to screenshot below)

8.Extra Credit - Format the .vhd disk. Your Windows 7 machine will then treat this file as aphysical disk. You can use the disk management utility or DiskPart command line utility to accomplishthis.

Page 10: Midterm

9.On W7-1, create a 2GB FAT32 partition (or volume) in your unallocated space. Assign H: toyour partition (or volume).

Page 11: Midterm

■Can this FAT partition be Extended?__No_______________________■Can this FAT partition be Shrunk?____No_______________________10.Use the command line utility to convert the FAT partition (above) to an NTFS partition

■Can this NTFS partition be Extended?_Yes________________________

Page 12: Midterm

■Can this NTFS partition be Shrunk?_____Yes______________________11.Create a new folder on C: called ITNET110 (C:\ITNET110)

12.Grant yourself (the administrator) Full Control of ITNET-110. Remove the rest of the defaultpermissions from C:\ITNET110

Page 13: Midterm

Your screenshot for C:\ITNET-110 should look similar to the following (note that the admin is theonly user with access to the folder).

Page 14: Midterm

●Can you (the administator) create a new folder in C:\ITNET110?_Yes. Because I have Full control permissions, which allows this.__(why/why not?)

13.Create a standard user, Pat Feder

Page 15: Midterm

■Can Pat Feder create a new folder in C:\ITNET110?_No. Because my user account is the only one with those permissions. (why/why not?)

14.Create a group called Instructors and make Pat Feder a member of this group

15.Give the Instructors Group, Write, Read & Execute, List Folder Contents and Read permissionsof ITNET-110
