Uses & Gratifications Theory

• Identify - Characters that fans can relate to. General issue of the music video – seeing insecurities – is something that most people have experienced.• Entertain - Both the narrative and performance mean the music video should hold the audience’s interest. Also, I tend to frequently cut between the characters and performer in the editing to hold the audience’s interest.• Inform - Makes the audience aware of issues with appearance.• Social Interaction - If the audience relates to the characters in the video, it allows them to feel like the artist understands them.

Waiting For Superman - Daughtry

The video inspired me as I liked the combination of both narrative and performance. Also, the narrative related to the song and lyrics indirectly rather than literally.
