Role of the Assistant Education Officer1
Assistant Education Officer (AEO) is:
• A mobile administrator who supervises the performance of schools in his markaz.
• Each AEO is assigned between 15 to 22 schools, collectively called a markaz, for
routine supervision and management.
• An AEO is judged on the performance of his/her markaz across a combination of access
and quality indicators.
• He/she must perform the following five core functions:

III. Implement SED initiatives on the field
IV. Maintain administrative and financial record

thorough and productive
▪ Discuss and troubleshoot challenges identified in monthly meetings and district data packs with the head teacher
▪ Assign targets to the head teacher and track progress
▪ Report progress of schools to the Deputy DEO on regular basis
▪ Prioritize visiting weak schools, followed by visiting all the remaining schools
