- The word Renaissance means rebirth.
- Beginning in the 1400s.
- The Renaissance began in Italy but spread to Europe.
ARCHITECTURE- Architects used the classical elements (arches, columns).
- Architects designed buildings in the Herrerian style, named after Juan de Herrera.
- Austere style with little decoration.LITERATURE

- There were some exceptional writers like Saint Teresa and Saint Juan de la Cruz.
- Both wrote about mystical and spiritual topics.
- Garcilaso de la Vega wrote poetry.
- It was inspired by the Greek and Roman cultures.- Celebrated the individual.- Renaissance art was driven by the new notion of
"Humanism”.- Artist loved details and realism. - Human bodies were painted with good proportions.
