The Degree Audit is “the official” source of the most up-to-date information about

• student’s performance and progress at MDC (grades, transcripts, academic status, etc.)

• requirements students must complete to graduate

Intro to the Degree Audit

General Education & Gordon Rule requirements:• Group A vs Group B• 1000 vs 2000 sequencing• Discipline department recommendations• Minimum “C” grade requirement

Elective requirements: • Discipline department recommendations• Transfer institution pre-requisites (www.flvc.org)• Minimum “D” grade requirement

Accessing Odyssey

1 Identify and click on the Odyssey icon on your desktop.

2 Log in using your MDC login and password Hint: The same user name and password you use to log into you computer

3 When the program launches, select “O” for Odyssey.

4 Linux should default to production, but if it does not from the drop down menu select Production, then click on connect

Special Designators: For example, if the student is an American Dream Scholar

Change of Major History. The last three major changes will appear is this section.

The Degree Audit

This section shows all previously awarded degrees or certificates.

If a student changes their major, they will be reassigned to another Coach and Mentor.

If a student’s GPA drops below 2.0, they will be reassigned to a SOAP Advisor in Student Services.

Understanding the Student’s Academic Status

Placement Testing information

Student’s Academic Status – Based on the student’s academic status the student should be referred to back his case advisor at the Advisement Department.

Area 01: Indicates when requirement is met. AA degrees require both ENC1101 and ENC1102.

Area 02: Students must enroll for one of the courses listed.

Area 03: Students must enroll for a course from group A and Group B.

Area 04: Students must enroll for a course from group A and Group B. If a 1000 level course is selected for group A, then a 2000 level course must be selected from group B and vice-versa.

Area 05: Students must enroll for a course from group A and Group B. Course selection will depend on the students declared Pathway

Area 06: Students who have declared a Pathway to an AA degree are required to complete two math courses. The math decision should be based on the students’ declared pathway.

Students with STEM pathways will require additional math courses as pre-requisites for transfer to an upper division program.

Area 07: This section only requires 3 credits, but it is an area where the student can enroll for one of the transfer pre-requisites. This area can be completed with at least a grade of ‘D’.

Area 08: CGS 1060 is required for graduation. For some Pathways, the student can also take the Computer Placement Test. If all electives are not met, then the credits for that area will most likely go to electives, however the area will be shown as met. A minimum grade of ‘D’ is required.

Courses placed in this section could be used towards graduation, but because all areas and electives have been met, these courses go into the excess section. These courses could include additional transfer pre-requisites.

Courses in this section are not accepted towards the declared pathway. For example, all developmental education courses will be placed in this section.

Graduation Summary: The GPA for all areas must be at least a 2.0 for a student to graduate from MDC.

This area outlines the College benchmarks the student has achieved including the residency requirement and the percentage completion. For every benchmark achieved or likely to be achieved at the end of a term, an ‘X’ is placed next to that benchmark.
