OVA Dream Jobs!

• Also, I did collaborate with Rachel White and wrote/co-directed/died in a film that corresponds to this assignment, so I’m not lazy!

My Career’s Fifth Year, Part 1 If I had the opportunity to be a Foley Artist within five years of graduating Full Sail, I would be thrilled. It would be a good job to be able to work up further from.

Before I forget: Foley Artists are in the sound department, and are in charge of recording different sounds for a film such as footsteps, punches, paper crinkling, almost anything. This enhances the quality of the film, and makes it seem more realistic. Sound is 60 percent of a movie’s quality, after all!

Point of Entry: PAA job as a production assistant is a good staring point, because it’s easy to get, but can offer many career-building opportunities.

Job qualifications: be a taxable American, be able to work for long periods of time, have no shame (just kidding, but it may help), Film degrees are preferred.

How Will I Escalate, You Ask?I do my best to be a people person, so with some of the skills Nikki taught me, and some of my own, I will network with every-freaking-body I work with from day one.

I also claim to be a hard worker, so if I prove it to everyone, I’ll earn their respect and show initiative! Also, it’s important that I don’t screw anything up, like dumping a pot of boiling water or something on Martin Scorsese’s lap. That would ruin me.

Conclusion

I have a plan to go from the bottom, and work up to Foley work, which will get me halfway up the caste in five years. Once I get there, I’ll make another plan to get to Spielberg status. Wish me luck, and thank you again for an awesome class, my future job that I already called, and being such a cool teacher. I’ll miss you!!!
