More Than One Way to Get a Student Response: Using Smartphones as In-Class Tool
In a day and age where professors and teachers are dealing with larger and larger classes, the use of student-response devices like clickers allow educators to canvas their students, to set up a communicative dialogue and to get the feedback that they need. Though the clicker is perhaps the most famous and commonly used type of student-response system, it is far from the only option available. Some students do not have the ability to get a clicker, and others do not want to carry one more device. However, most students at this point do have a smartphone, and many major student-response companies are offering their customers the ability to use a smartphone as the responding device instead.
Many of the best services out there do offer it, and there is a wide variety of pricing available. Some make it part and parcel of other systems, while some offer it a la carte, on its own. Some services offer it for free, while others require a nominal investment
