DESCRIPTION
Moving education hosted a design workshop at Bridge 21. Students went through a design process to create their own ideas for bringing movement into the classroom

Student design workshop
At Bridge 21, the students tested out and
gave us their expert user reviews on the latest classroom
furniture
Students spent 15 minutes at each of the 4 testing stations where they
undertook a set task such as origami, a quiz or drawing.
They then evaluated how the furniture met their needs
Accelerometers were used to scientifically measure their movements while working
Students then went through the moving education brief design
process to create their own ideas for a more active classroom
Collect, Curate, Create and Critique
COLLECT
Students explored how the furniture and its layout can
indicate the type of movement that will happen in a room
What type of activities happen in your classroom?
Is your classroom easily adaptable to all of these activities?
Students discussed the pro’s and con’s of movement in the
classroom with a moving debate
Students were introduced to the latest classroom products by
Industrial designers themselves including the designers
of ‘Optimo’
CURATE

Each group chose a challenge of designing furniture, a media device, a
teaching style or a community exchange to enhance movement
CREATE
Following the group brainstorm,they began to sketch and build 3d prototypes of their
idea
CRITIQUE
Students presented their concepts to the group and reflected on what
they learned in the workshop
