Research Question

What is the purpose for inclusion classes and what influences do they have on elementary students and the community?

What the ongoing academic discussion is with regard to the topic in your discipline?

I am doing a questionnaire with the classroom I am observing, along with an interview with my clinical instructor.

Many of these question I have asked gave me support to my research question.

How you are developing an answer to your question

By researching with my classroom, I have developed an accurate representation of my research question.

- Teacher is giving good answers- Students participated- Finding articles with great description of the special education inclusion topic.

THE CLASSROOM ANSWERSRaise your hand if you have ever had a special needs student in your class.0 out of 20Raise your hand if you get distracted easily during a test.19 out of 20Raise your hand if go to a day care.4 out of 20Raise your hand if you wear glasses.3 out of 20

THE CLINICAL INSTRUCTORS ANSWERSDescribe your experience with an Individualized Educational Plan.Writing IEPs take many months to complete the process of completing the paperwork. The process can take up to one year sometimes to complete.Describe a time you participated in a Teacher Support Meeting.A student in my class was having trouble reading orally. We met and bounced ideas off each other. I was told to work on dolch vocabulary words by have that student identify them. Then allow him to read sentences that included words from this list. This all occurred during Tier 1. We moved to Tier 2 because he was not improving. Now he gets progress monitored 3 times a week.

The research you have done so far leads you to believe is the answer to the question a statement of your argument and supporting evidence.

With the research I have done I have found out that inclusion classes are real important to student with disabilities. Students with disabilities learn so much from hearing and seeing general education students learn. By placing special education students in a general education environment it gives the special education student more social skills. The community is becoming more aware and common with special education students because of inclusion. Many people in the community has grown up only seeing special needs students in Wal Mart or out in town because inclusion is a new adversity in the classroom older people are becoming more and more aware of inclusion.

Why the question and its answer are important to scholars in your field.Inclusion also called mainstreaming has become more popular. I am the first class from Ole Miss that has an endorsement in Special Education, and I see many other teachers wishing they had this. By researching this topic, teachers that want to know more about special education and inclusion can now find out everything they need. From getting ideas to help students with special needs to interventions. By improving their behavior and learning in the general education classroom.

What work remains to be done and/or what questions remain to be answered as you continue work on the project.

I keep finding an unanswered question about inclusion and that is why hasnt teachers been more informed on how inclusion works and the logistics.

I think I need to do more research in finding more academic voices in my field. It is hard to find academic voices in inclusion and special education and how it is influencing classrooms everywhere.
