Jack the Ripper

• “Wrote” letters to the press• Murders took place in England

starting in 1888• 5 or more prostitutes killed and

organs removed• Was never caught or identified

• Murdered 17 men and boys of African or Asian descent

• Murders took place between 1978 and 1991

• Murdered in states of Ohio and Wisconsin

• Kept “souvenirs” of his victims• Died in prison

• Killed 218 or more of his patients• The only doctor in the united

kingdom to be convicted of murdering his patients

• Lead to the Shipman inquiry which reformed health care in the U.K.

• Injected his patients with heroin• Committed suicide in prison

• The Boston Strangler• Murdered 13 women in Massachusetts• After being charged for rape confessed to

being the Boston Strangler• Escaped prison but gave himself up the

next day• Was later killed in prison• Doubts to if he was actually the Boston

Strangler

The Zodiac Killer

• Murders took place in California in the late 1960’s

• Sent taunting letters to the press in code, 3 have yet to be solved

• Claims he killed 37 people• Was never caught

Robert Hansen

• Murdered between 17 and 21 people in 1980-1983

• Would kidnap, rape, and fly prostitutes out to his Alaskan Cabin where he would hunt them

• In turn for no publicity of the events he showed the police 12 previously undiscovered grave sites

• Is currently imprisoned

Yang Xinhai

• Confessed to 130 murders and 46 rapes in China between 1999 and 2003

• Would enter families homes at night and kill its occupants

• “When I killed people I had a desire. This inspired me to kill more. I don’t care whether they deserve to live or not. It is none of my concern…I have no desire to be a part of society. Society is not my concern.”

Ted Bundy

• Murdered around 36 people in Washington, Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, and Florida in 1973-1978

• His grandparents raised him as their son telling him his mother was his older sister

• Married a woman while she was on the stand testifying in his trial

• Escaped prison twice• Died by the electric chair

Ed Gein

• Murdered two women in Plainfield in 1957• Not technically a serial killer• Dug up recently buried bodies after his

mother’s death• Was thought to be making a “woman suit”• Died in a mental hospital• Gravestone was stolen but recovered and

is now in a Waushara Museum

Bela Kiss

• Murdered 24 women in Hungary around 1916

• Kept them in large metal barrels on his property

• Was using them to get money• Was never caught

Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs

• Consisted of 19 yearolds Viktor Sayenko and Igor Suprunyuck

• Murdered 21 people in the Ukraine between June 25, 2007 and July 16, 2007

• Recorded some of the murders on their cell phones

• One murder video was leaked• Are currently imprisoned

Cleveland Torso Murderer

• 12 murders took place in Cleveland, Ohio in the 1930’s

• Elliot Ness (aided in the Capture of Al Capone) could not catch the murderer

• Dismembered his victims and many were never identified

• Was never identified

The United States have the more serial killers than any other country, followed by the United Kingdom. Smaller undeveloped countries have very few if any. Because of our freedom and rights it is easier to get away with murder.
