The Training With the syllabus and curriculum approved by the
Executive Council, Union Ministry of Social Justice
and Empowerment of India, the First Official
Reflexology Vocational Training Course started off at
National Institute for Visually Handicapped, Regional Centre, Poonamalle, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Students from Kerala and Tamil Nadu participated in this training program, which commenced on 1st of August 2013.
Mr.Mayavan Gopalakrishan, Training Officer, NIVH
officially took full responsibility concerning the successful implementation of this batch.
With an excellent in-house accommodation and canteen facility, the students had just to concentrate on the course ahead of them.
10 students were inducted for this program. 2 females and 8 males. Out of which 9 (including a female) made it through the course.
The training comprised of Acupressure (Shiatsu,
Japan) and Reflexology. The trainees learnt 1. Joint Manipulation techniques 2. Full body Shiatsu treatment and massage 3. Special Shoulder, Neck, Face and Head Massage 4. Treatment of acute and chronic diseases.
On 31st October, 2013, the trainees were summoned by the Regional Director, Dr.Arivanandham, under whose
careful vigilance the entire batch progressed. The

Naturals Parlors & Spas India Pvt.Ltd, who is NIVH
collaborating partners in employing the blind reflex
therapist, conducted the employment interview at
NIVH premises. The interview was conducted by
Mr.Jayseelan under the direct orders of C.K.Kumaravel and C.K Ashok Kumar of Naturals Reflexology.
On 20th of November, Wednesday, 2013, Mr.Jayseelan of Naturals Parlors and Spas, conducted the interview both theory and technical. Each trainee was practically tested by Mr.Jayseelan. the interview lasted for a full One and half hours and concluded at 1pm.
Mr.Jayseelan also shared the business ethics and protocols that is maintained by Naturals Parlors and Spas. The regulations concerning employment and how the franchise system works at Naturals was also mentioned, so as to make the blind reflex therapist fully aware of all consequences of employment at Naturals.
Jayseelan was happy to note the quality of the blind reflex therapist and assured them of getting them placed
at Naturals. However, he cautioned them that each one of
them must work diligently to sustain the revenue model and the permanency of their jobs.

Further to the continued commitment and support of Naturals Parlors and Spas, Dr.Arivanandham addressed the 2nd Batch trainees with a motivation speech. In a gist he spoke of the world class training imparted to them in the Reflexology vocational course and the prestigious collaboration with Mr.C.K.Ashok Kumar, the founder of Natrurals Reflexology for the blind.
Sharing Moments was witnessed on 20th November 2013, when the 2nd batch trainees met up with the new 3rd Batch trainees. It was a scintillating moment when
Sensei Maxwell paired up the 2nd batch with the 3rd Batch and requested the seniors teach their juniors reflexology.
With much motivation and inspiration from seniors of the 2nd batch, and having witnessed the interview process live; the 3rd batch students of Reflexology are charged up
with a new found dedication and determination to better the best for themselves and for the blind at large.
Dr.Anuradha Dalmia, Director of National Institute
for Visually Handicapped, is more convinced than anyone, on the success of this project. She gets regular updates from the Regional Director Dr.Arivanandham on Reflexology vocational training. Having experienced a reflexology session at NIVH, from the blind trainees, She is an ardent supporter of this Reflexology Vocational Training Program.
