…unemployment among the visually impaired and severely disabled is at 70%?
Are You Aware that…
These individuals deserve the opportunity to work!
FEW CONSIDER THE MANY OBSTACLES STANDING BETWEEN THE VISUALLY
IMPAIRED/SEVERELY DISABLED AND EMPLOYMENT
Job Availability
Transportation
Employer Negativity
Employee Negativity
Just a few of these obstacles include…
JOB AVAILABILITY
One of the largest barriers facing disabled individuals is the lack of appropriate jobs. The absence of adequate information about available jobs is another major barrier.
Due to inadequate public transportation in some locations, many visually impaired and severally disabled are not able to reach the opportunities which are available.
TRANSPORTATION
EMPLOYER NEGATIVITY
An unawareness of adaptive aids and accommodations, makes hiring visually impaired and severely disabled a tough hiring decision for many employers. The cost of equipping work areas is also sometimes a factor in an employer’s decision. AWARENESS IS THE KEY!
EMPLOYEE NEGATIVITYThe fear of being denied employment, proper training, promotions etc. are often major barriers for a visually impaired or severely disabled individual seeking employment. Many individuals also fear the loss of benefits.
But for those who are fortunate enough to overcome all the barriers of finding an appropriate job….
…and even more fortunate to be chosen for that job…
…they very often achieve more than their employers ever expected.
Please Join us as we take you on a tour of the many fun, creative, and educational ways EnvisionXpress and their staff help to create this awareness among our customers and in our communities to make these employment opportunities a reality.
