The Standards Movement Addresses What Students Should Know from Content Subjects

The use of technology as a tool for discovering and applying content knowledge in authentic contexts for:

• solving problems

• making decisions, • exchanging information and

• communicating has not been addressed in the content standards.

"Knowing content" is not sufficient in itself --

rather, students must apply

knowledge to:

• construct new understandings,

• solve problems

•  make decisions
