Introduction

•The way of learning English well is to improve the ability of listening ,speaking ,reading ,writing.

First

• Today I will introduce a short story to you about some people in the thertre.

A Private Conversation

• Private : 私人的 Eg: a private car 私家车

• Conversation: 谈话。

• A private conversation : 一个私人的谈话。

Second

• Listen to the tape ,then answer my question :Why did the writer complain to the people behind him?

Last week I went to the theatre.

• Last week • Theatre: 戏院,剧院 at

the theatre : 在戏院,在剧院 go to the theatre : 去看戏

• Tea 戏院喝茶﹝联想记忆﹞

I had a very good seat.

• Seat : 座位

• Have a very good seat : 我的座位很好。

• It means he was sitting in a good place.

The play was very interesting.

Play :v . 玩。 Play games 玩游戏

n. 戏剧,戏。

Interesting :一般用物做主语

E g : The bear is interesting.Interested: 一般以人做主语

E g : I am interested in the play .

I did not enjoy it .

Enjoy : 享受,欣赏

enjoy sth eg:enjoy the meal enjoy the tea enjoy the play

A young man and a young woman were sitting behind me .

• young-------old • Behind ------in front of • 区分 ahead of /in front of

/before

三个都有在… . 之前的意思

They were talking loudly .

Loudly : 大声地

eg:speak loudly say loudly

I got very angry .

• Angry: adj. 生气的,气愤的

• Get angry /get tired /get white • How did the writer feel? how/what /why/where /when/which

I could not hear the actors.

• actor : 男演员

actress: 女演员

• waiter: 男服务员

waitress: 女服务员

I turned round .

• Turn round =turn around 转身

I looked the man and the woman angrily.

• angrily :adv . 生气地

It means that the writer was very cross.

cross: adj. 恼怒的,十分愤怒的,非常生气的

• The writer looked at them angrily . 区分代词,形容词性物主代词,宾格

They did not pay any attention.

• Attention: n. 注意

pay attention It means they did not stop talking .• 区分 some /any • They did not pay any attention . They paid no attention .

In the end ,I could not bear it.

• bear :v. stand 忍受

n. 熊

bear ----bore-----boren• In the end =at last

‘It’s none of your business,’ the young man said rudely .

• rudely :adv. 无礼地,粗暴地

• none of your business: 不关你的事

business: n.• The man said rudely means he

was not polite.

‘This is a private conversation .’

• The man thought the writer was trying to listen to his conversation with the young woman .
