2014 New Year Celebration

2014 NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

31st Tuesday, December 2013, brought the curtains down on an exciting year and celebrations started to herald the 2014 New Year.

Mr.Amalraj, Retd Principal of Govt. H.S.School, Poonamalle, was the Chief Guest. The management of NIVH along with the visually handicapped students of the Institute joined in the celebration.

Pandit Rajagopalan commenced the celebration with

Sanskrit incantation to the Almighty. This was followed by a Prayer song by Vinesh, student of Life Skills.

Dr.Arivanandham Israel’s message for the New Year 2014 was on ‘Self Belief’. He narrated a fascinating story of a beach side balloon seller. When sales went down the balloon seller would cut free a black balloon

which was filled with helium. When the children on the beach see the black balloon ‘going up’ in the sky, they would rush to the balloon wala to purchase one and thus the sales went up. A boy noticed went up to the balloon wala and asked if only his black balloon would fly up or any color balloon would fly. The balloon wala replies by saying; “It is what’s inside that matters” and not the

color. With this message, the regional director Dr.Arivanandham wished the gathering a Happy New Year 2014.

Ms.SreePriya, Asst.Professor, B.Ed, also addressed the gathering, followed by the vote-of-thanks by Mr.Mayavan Gopalakrishan, Training Officer In-charge.

“It’s what is inside you that

matters to go up in Life”

Taking Reflexology &

Acupressure seriously

Balasubramaniam of Sengottai, who lost his vision a few

years ago, is taking reflexology seriously to get back his lost life and prestige as man-of-the-house. Seen in the above picture, he frequently moves to the balcony and revises his theory repeatedly. The serene landscape of NIVH is so apt for such peaceful studies.

Byju and Praju (left and middle pic) both hail from Kerala State. Byju is determined to make it to the top with as reflexologist. ‘It’s now or never for me’, says Byju. Prajulal is so passionate about reflexology that he quit his job as ‘pranic healer’ and joined this NIVH, reflexology course. Prajulal certainly has hands that heal.

Sensei Maxwell Jude Anthony, Chief Instructor at

NIVH, is thrilled to see 3 entrepreneurs emerge from his batch.

Sensei Maxwell says: “With the kind of support and infrastructure NIVH offers, Reflexology is definitely the

game changer in the lives of the visually handicapped.” With a solid syllabus and curriculum that contains full body shiatsu therapy and massage + foot and hand reflexology, the trainees are skilled enough to be healers.

Sensei Maxwell further imparts English spoken language skills, customer relation management skills and reinforces ‘self belief’ in the trainees with Shorinji Kempo martial art.

The visually impaired reflexology trainees ardently believe in this new self development method of Shorinji Kempo.

“I am more than ever impressed by the visually impaired

trainees. Their smartness in learning the science of Yin-Yang, Organ energy pathway, Bilateral Meridians, Treatment of Acute and Chronic diseases, is astonishing. What my sighted students struggle to pick-up, my blind students do it with ease. Reflexology is to them, what a fish is to water.” Says Sensei Maxwell.
