回到未来!
25 Architecture students from Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus had their SABD Measured Drawing and Documentation in one of the famous historical building in Penang
named Wisma Yeap Chor Ee. They had been measuring and sketch all the parts of the building for 5 days which is to be present for their final submission on 12 Mac 2014.
WISMA YEAP CHOR EE is a historical building located at China Street Ghaut, Pen-ang. It was built around 1922 for Yeap Chor
Ee who was famous with “a rags-to-riches Chi-na-born tycoon who owned all the properties on the south side of China Street Ghaut. The whitewashed building is three storeys tall and
is entirely rusticated.

BUILDING STORIES
COURTYARD
This building consists 3 storeys floor with linear arrangment of columns. Most of the space and rooms look alike and have the
same type of doors and windows.
In the middle part of the building, it
consists of an open space which can
be known as a courtyard. With four
walls and no roof, it gives a natural
feeling as it is connected to the nature.

STAIRCASE
HALLWAY
第二楼
The staircase is a triple quarter landing staircase. This type of staircase allow the user to see the trace of each floor wider. It also tends to save some space and give
aesthatic value to the building.
Most of the hallway and passageway in this building has an open frame to see the courtyard. It is just so interesting when
the rooms can be quite dark but when you walk using the hallway automatically your
vision become wider as you can see the nature and the facade of the building.

TIME MANAGEMENT
DOCTOR, I’M SICK...It’s quite sad to hear some of the students weren’t
feeling well and some need to run to clinic for doctor’s
aid and medication. Despite their sickness, they still
be on site and did their work attentively. They took
precaution by wearing mask to the site and advice the
other students to do the same thing too.
AIN ’T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!BIRD POOPS, RUSTY, DIRTY, SMELLY!
The title states it all. Students couldn’t care less about
those awful things. They just continued with their work
eventhough there was no ventilation such as air cond
and also working under the hot sun. This prove that
these students deserve a clap to strive everything all
out.
GHOST BUSTER! ! ! 2 student got locked outside balcony with mysterious reason.
These 2 students were in charged to measure the balcony due to their
elevation part. They remembered that they open the door widely to
prevent from any case to happened. There were no one also in the
room with the balcony except for both of them. Surprisingly, when
they finished their task and turned their head, the door was shutly
closed. They hurrily called their friend to open the door for them and
accused their friend for doing so. But more surprisingly that no one
had time to play joke with them and really think that the door was
closed by itself.
“Hurmm..Now, we understand the reason why we have to leave
the building straight away when the clock strikes 5pm exactly”
With perfect schedule and neat divisional task, the students could performed their task
attentively and finished their work early. Every divisional task been assigned a
leader to handle the teams. As for the schedule, they perfectly made one
for themselves to follow and concentrate perfectly with their work.

SCREENING LIVE INTO MOVIETHEIR MEASURED DRAWING’S BUILDING WAS
SCREENED INTO MOVIE
Since the building give out a lot of aesthatic and historical value,
it had been a location setting. It was directed by an oscar-winning
producer, Ang Lee. The building was transformed into a shopping
boutique in Shanghai as the backdrop for a scene.
LONGEST CAFE IN PENANG
The students took their free time for an educational art
seminar in the longest cafe in Penang which known as
CHINA HOUSE. They met an artist who sketch a lot
while travelling or sight seeing. He adviced the students
to keep on dancing their hands on paper by sketching.
The reason is to increase their creativity and understand
their drawing with more details and story.
HOUSE CONVERT
TO A MUSEUM
BRINGING BACK LIFE
This museum was the first home of Yap Chor Yee.
After that, his descendant convert the building to a
museum in 2008. Through the journey of Yeap Chor Ee,
the gallery gives an insight into his remarkable life and
the lives of immigrants who arrived on the island from
China more than 100 years ago.
On the way back to their campus, unexpected
story happened when one of the bus couldn’t be
driven on the road anymore. Luckily, they used
two buses to traveled them from one place to
another. They just have to cramped inside one
bus with another group of students that mea-
sured different building. In the end, they all
went back safely and reached home to their
family :)

With the task that been assigned and divided among these 25 architecture students, they took the part seriously and did their work attentively. With these kind of proper divisional task, individual didn’t have a problem to guess “what to do” or “where to start”.
