Our NHS offer
Case Study Service redesign
Over the past 25 years YHEC has supported NHS providers and commissioners to make decisions on service configuration. NHS organisations are facing unprecedented funding challenges. YHEC is continuing to support local and national NHS bodies to redesign services, capturing the patient voice to enable integration of care across care pathways, including primary, community, secondary and social care services.

YHEC developed an economic model to quantify the potential benefits of developing a specialist Cardiovascular Centre at Bart’s Health NHST, as part of an Outline Business Case (OBC). Data on activity, length of stay, patient mortality and potential benefits of specialisation were analysed to estimate the impact of various options for a specialist Cardiovascular Centre. Modelling indicated scope for significant benefits for the chosen option in terms of reduced patient mortality, as well as efficiency savings through reductions in length of hospital stay. The OBC was approved by NHS England in 2014.
