Exam Review
Let’s Get ‘r done!
▪ A tool used with indicators that helps identify the strength of an acid or a base.
Acids and Bases are all around us
Acids can be strong or weak having a pH value of 1 – 6,
Strong acids can burn you; weak acids don’t ▪ 1 (HCl/Hydrochloric Acid) being a very strong acid
▪ 6 (Coffee) being a very weak acid
Like Acids, Bases can be strong or weak having a pH value ranges between 8 – 15
Strong bases can burn you; weak Bases wont A value of 8 – 9 is weak (Soaps, detergents) A value of 13 - 15 is strong ( Oven and Drain Cleaner
Something that is “Neutral” has a pH of 7. (water and our body fluids are generally neutral.)
When an acid and a base are combined a
process called “Neutralization” occurs During neutralization the reactants (acid + base)
combine to form two products..
Water H2O
A compound called a “Salt”
Thank you for your patience.
Now let’s crush the test!!
