LOCATION Negotino is a city in the central part of Macedonia. Located at the rate of Povardarie, on the both sides of the river Vardar, it takes important space of the Tikvesh valley. It’s 100 km from the capital, and the nearest city is Kavadarci who is 10 km afar.

NEGOTINO IN THE PASTThe name Negotino is slovenated name of the antic estate Antigonea who is founded in the third century before our era from the Macedonian ruler Antigon Gonat. The estate Antigonea is located on 12 roman miles from Stobi on the way to Solun. As the name of Negotino, this city for first time is founded in the start of XIX century with 30 Macedonian houses.

In 1821year, Adzi Tiar-aga on his grange in Negotino has built “Watch tower”, mosque and the bezisten. In 1837 year Negotino was village with his own church and school. After 1837 was opened traffic on the railway Solun-Skopje. Negotino’s biggest ascent has noticed in the second half of XX century when it grow up in modern city estate with aged substructure.

POPULATIONAccording to the list of the population in Republic of Macedonia from 2002, in the city of Negotino live 13.984 people. From them, 12.994 (97,82%) are Macedonian, 117 are Serbian, 74 are Romes, 46 are Turkish etc.

The agriculture manufacturing takes main economy effect in the municipality Negotino. The municipality of Negotino has yearly manufacture of 20-25 million tones of grapes. From the industry culture representative are tobacco, garden culture and grain. In Negotino is located the second biggest vinary in Macedonia, “Povardarie”. The vinery “Povardarie” is founded in 1963 and its main manufacture is vine and alchohol drinks from the best region Povardarie has the best kinds of grapes.

In newer time there are new private vineries like: “Pivka”, “Bovin”, “Dudin” etc. Because there are many vineries in the city of Negotino is famous as the CITY OF THE VINE.

In Negotino there is factory for cables “Negotino”, who is founded in 1968 and a term electron “Negotino”. Also in Negotino are located many factories for adaptation for vegetable and fruit as: ”Kim”, “Macedonia” etc.

More important manifestations in Negotino are The Festival of the vine on 14 February - the religion feast St. Triphun (keeper of the vintner ), Negotino night of boems, Monastery night and Negotino fair from 20 to 23 September - religion feast “Little Mother of God” .

citified city, with culture institution as: The Museum, The city library “Strasho Pindgur”, The Culture center “Aco Gjorchev”, KAS “Jane Sandanski” etc. Special proud of the citizens is The Old City bazaar, which is completelly reconstructed. In Negotino there are the church “St. Anastasij” and the monastery “St. George” what are build in 19 century.
