Significant changes to key research structures and supports for Horizon 2020 However…Waiting to see how HSS mainstreaming is reflected within H2020 structures, Expert Advisory Groups, Evaluation Groups etc

Short-term responses could include: Transparency on role of, timetables, and

access points to Expert Advisory Groups Parity of esteem of HSS and STEM within

Evaluation Groups Clarity on where responsibility for monitoring

HSS mainstreaming lies Early reporting on progress in mainstreaming

HSS within 2014 work programmes

Insertions and additions to draft 2015 work programmes (mid 2014)

Engage with Expert Advisory Groups (2014) Seek greater HSS involvement in design of 2016 WP Lead trans-disciplinary workshops in 2 – 3 areas to

identify proposals for flagship initiatives for 2016 WP (2014-2015)

Measure HSS success in 2014 & 2015 WP as per Commission expressed expectations (ongoing)

Encourage its HSS scholars involvement in EAG and Evaluation Groups (ongoing)

What can be done at MS level?

Continued opportunities to work with National Support Framework in a timely way to inform MS inputs to Programme Committees

Build understanding of transdisciplinary research design, practice etc

Look at role of national funding structures in setting HSS researchers up to succeed

Draw on MRIA to provide commentary and input to draft work programmes on relevant H2020 WPs

Ensure Irish perspectives on H2020 in practice & future work programmes are heard at European level through ALLEA

Engagement w/ European Commission stakeholders Promote dialogue between HSS community &

national support framework Promote opportunities for HSS scholars engagement

in H2020 structures & processes
