Dear Parent or Guardian:

I would like to take this opportunity to say that I am excited to be your child’s Algebra 2 teacher this year. This letter serves as my chance for me to notify you of some information concerning my class.

Algebra 2 is a challenging class for many; however, I truly believe that all students can be successful. If your child is struggling to understand the concepts, encourage them to seek out additional help. First, I am almost always available after school to help. Secondly, there are many websites (particularly Youtube) filled with online Algebra help. One of the best resources I have found is KhanAcademy.org.

What your student will need for class: Pencil or pen A scientific calculator (preferably a graphing calculator, TI-83 or TI-84) An open mind, and a willingness to say “I don’t understand.”

Homework:Your student can expect to have homework for my class on most days class is held. Some time will be given in class to work on most assignments, but you can expect your child to have some Algebra 2 homework to do on most nights. Grading will be done on a straight point system, and will include homework, quizzes, tests, and a couple of projects/papers.

Progress Reports:Hanover-Horton will continue to use the PowerSchool grading system this school year, which allows you to check your student’s grades online at any time. If for some reason you do not have access to PowerSchool, please let me know, and I will be more than willing to update you on your student’s progress through whatever means is easiest for you.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me or e-mail me.
