Points to bear in mind: (a) The most important thing to remember is that in reported interrogatives, there is   of  subject and verb.(b) Reported speech can be introduced by a lot of different verbs, but the most common are: ask, wonder, inquire, want to know, etc. as in: “She asked...... , I wonder....."  (c) When there is no question word (What / How/ Where, etc.), indirect questions are introduced by if or whether.

→ If the direct question begins with a question word like How much, where, when, how, which, why, whose, what etc...... we repeat the same question word in the indirect speech.Examples:Direct : She said, "How is your family?“ Indirect: She asked me how my family was.

→If the direct question begins with a helping / auxiliary verb, we use IF or WHETHER.Example:Direct :The policeman asked me, "Do you have a driving licence?"
