• Phishing is used by criminals
• Criminals try to trick people to give up their bank account information and credit card numbers etc.
• Phishing usually comes in the form of e-mail
• It usually says it is from a bank, and wants you to continue to another link and change your password or bank information etc.
• The e-mails often appears to be authentic
General
• Phishing is used for identity theft
• They are after your personal information so that they can e.g. open a bank account in your name

• Don’t open unfamiliar e-mails
• Never give up your personal information on web sites
• Always check or contact the part that asks for your information
Avoid Phishing
• In some cases it’s hard to tell the difference between a legitimate or a phishing e-mail
• In most of the cases you can detect many spelling errors in a phishing e-mail
• Usually there is a link they want you to follow, if the link directs you to another page then promised then it’s probably a Phishing web site
How to notice Phishing
• Contact the place you gave information about
• Contact your bank
• If possible change password
