2. 1st Person
Character in the story is the narrator.We only know what this
person thinks, feels, and chooses to tell us.
I walked into the ball.I could feel all of the people looking at
me.I looked for the prince.
3. Third Person Limited
Told by an outside narrator who is not a character in the
story.Narrator zooms in on one character.We only know the thoughts
and feelings of this character.
Cinderella walked into the ball.She was so nervous.She hoped the
prince would notice her.
4. Third Person Omniscient
Told by an outside narrator who is not a character in the
story.Narrator is all knowing.We know the thoughts and feelings of
all of the characters.
Cinderella felt so nervous.She knew that all eyes were on her.The
prince felt his heart jump in his throat.He had never seen anyone
so beautiful.
5. The Effect of Point of View
Point of view makes ALL the difference in a story!
We will usually come closer to agreeing with a person if we see
that persons side to the story, but every story has another
side.
Think of the story of The Three Bears. How would that story be
different if you had Father Bears 1st person point of view? What if
you had a third person omniscient point of view?
