Dear 2nd Grade Children, Here is a little information about Brasilia. The Est dio Nacional, Man Garrincha, is á éBrazil s new national stadium in the city of ’Brasilia. The most characteristic feature are the 288 pillars that go around the outside and hold up the roof. This stadium will host seven matches of the World Cup, including the match for third place. Mane Garrincha was a famous and popular Brazilian football player (he was a star in the World Cups of 1958 and 1962). He was nicknamed the "Joy of the People". Brasilia is the Federal Capital of Brazil and there are many official buildings here. My favorite place to visit is the The Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasilia. It is very close to the stadium. There are abundant gardens filled with fruit trees coco, —carambola, acerola, manga, goiaba, jaca, fruta do conde, jabuticaba. Yummy! Look them up! One afternoon we gathered pequi which we ate cooked with rice and stewed chicken. Love, Red

The even distribution of the background colours recall the green, yellow, blue and white of our beloved Brazilian flag.
