Four Potential Alternatives

The scope of this project requires that I propose four alternative possibilities to address the problem statement.

Based on my research, instruction through my educational endeavors, and personal experience I have proposed four potential alternatives to address the problem statement.

Page 7: Power point pad4878

Four Potential Alternatives

Alternative One: Adopt Intelligence-Led Policing

Alternative Two: Adopt Community Oriented Policing

Alternative Three: Adopt Problem Oriented Policing

Alternative Four: Embrace a status-quo doctrine

Page 8: Power point pad4878

Methodology of Quantitative and Comparative Analysis

Quantitative and comparative analysis was applied against the four alternatives in order to determine the best possible solution to address the problem statement.

Page 9: Power point pad4878

Methodology of Quantitative and Comparative Analysis

A comparative analysis begins with a baseline. In this case it was the current condition that was indicated through the problem statement.

I have been provided factors that provide a numerical weight as to each alternative’s legal, political, organizational, and financial implications.

The research conducted in the production of this project supports the individual weights that I have assigned to each alternative based on the factors that have been provided to me.

Methodology of Quantitative and Comparative Analysis

The following slides represent the application of the factors.

Highest Score

In considering all of the factors that have been applied to each alternative it has been concluded that the implementation of Intelligence-led policing is the best solution to address the problem statement.

Page 16: Power point pad4878

Implementation

Intelligence Led Policing is funded through USDOJ

Addresses all hazards Includes agency, public, private

participation Scalable to any agency Federal assistance for navigating

transition Increases effectiveness nearly

immediately

Page 17: Power point pad4878

Evaluation

The choice to adopt a new problem solving model must be evaluated

Evaluation must begin within the first three months

Evaluation must continue for at least two years

Quarterly evaluations Annual evaluations Bi-annual evaluations

Page 18: Power point pad4878

Evaluation

Is crime reduced? Are problems easier to manage? Have new crimes been discovered? Is the problem fiscally viable to continue? Has the public received the changes well? Is it sustainable from an organizational

perspective? Has there been any substantial legal

challenges (civil rights, etc.)?

Page 19: Power point pad4878

Evaluation

Annual public reports on progress Continual public engagement during the

implementation Success hinges on a cultural and

philosophical shift within the agency
