PRE TEENS III

We read Shakepeare´s Macbeth

A story of ambition, power and death.

A soldier, Macbeth, meets three wierd sistersthat tell him he will be King.

His ambition makes him blind. He kills everyone that wants to be king.

His wife helps him and in the end she turns crazy with guilt.

Macbeth is killed by a man ‘not born from a woman’.

…we also learned about Shakespeare’s theatre THE GLOBE…

It was built at Shoreditch, London in 1576 and the owner was James Burbage. Before this time plays were performed in the courtyard of inns or inn-yards, or sometimes, in the houses of noblemen

The Globe Theatre Heavens was the name given for the false ceiling over the stage. The 'Heavens' provided shelter for the actors and their costumes during inclement weather. The heavens were also referred to as the 'Shadow'

The Globe Theatre Lords Rooms were considered the best seats in the 'house'. They were certainly the most expensive seats but why were they considered the best? The Lords Rooms were situated in the balconies, or galleries, at the back of the stage above the Tiring Rooms.

The original Globe Theatre Stage had two main parts - the outer stage and the inner stage:

The Globe Theatre Yard, or pit, was the area designed for people to stand to watch the plays being performed. This was the cheapest part of the theatre, there were no seats

The Tiring house is where the actors used this area to change their costumes
