ACT ONE
Upon returning from a battle, Macbeth and Banquo encounter three witches.
A prophecy is given to them that Macbeth will be Thane of Cawdor and Banquo will be hailed as the father of kings to come.
Macbeth writes to Lady Macbeth about the prophecy. Lady Macbeth pushes him to plan to murder King Duncan.
Macbeth’s ambition is showed to readers.
ACT TWO
Macbeth is pressed by Lady Macbeth to plot Duncan’s death. They get the guards drunk and murder the king with daggers.
Macbeth kills the two guards and lets them become scapegoats.
Malcolm and Donalbain escape Scotland. They become the suspects of murdering King Duncan.
Macbeth is crowned as the king of Scotland.
ACT THREE
Macbeth is afraid that Banquo’s son will take his throne. He hires two murderer to kill Banquo and Fleance. Banquo is murdered, but Fleance escapes.
Macbeth feels a little bit guilty to kill Banquo. He sees the ghost of Banquo as well.
Macduff also suspects Macbeth and has fled to England. Then Macbeth butchers Macduff’s wife and children.
