What I sometimes do with songs:

Make a set of cards to stick on the board for each group of three

students.

The words on the cards here were a combination of the missing

lyrics from the handout and some vocabulary we’ve done recently

and/or words with similar sounds to the missing lyrics.

(I keep a template which is just a simple table. I’ll eventually get

round to making boxes that look flashier and prettier.)

First listening – groups at the board, pick the cards with words

they hear and leave the rest of the cards on the board.

Project the gap fill lyrics and

students take turns putting the

words in the correct spaces on

the board.

One handout per group,

students put the word cards

near the correct spaces.

Second listening to check. Second listening to check.

Third listening to check again

and optional handout to complete.

Then they have time to fill in a handout each.

Group sing along!
