Primary Industry is when natural resources are extracted directly from the Earth or Sea.

Example of Primary Industry:

-Coal Mining

- Oil Drilling

- Farming

- Fishing

- Forestry

Until 1750 farming hadn’t changed that much since 1066 (battle of hastings). As population began to increased from 5 million to 18 million in 100 years, they really needed more efficient ways of farming.

This meant that before 1750 farming didn’t have that much of an impact on the environment. As the farming industry began to grow, effects on the environment started to take place.

Land started to be overused and Low crop yields and growing populations impacted the environment as it can cause problems such as deforestation, desertification and soil erosion.

A farm that only grows crops.

Farms that keep livestock such as cattle and sheep.

Farms that have crops and animals.

A farm that grows fruit and vegetables.

Farms that have the intention of selling their products to large companies.

Self sufficient farming. When farmers grow only enough food to feed their families.

Farming which does not damage the environment in anyway. A goal of sustainable farming is to protect the environment.

Farming areas that keep sheep and cattle because of low agricultural productivity

Intensive farming is when a lot of labour work is involved and when there are lots of chemicals/ technology used.
