You need:Glass Tube with lidsPipette (for filling tube with oil)Vegetable oilFood colouringAsprin/ Alker seltzerWater

What to do:• Fill the tube 3/4 full with vegetable oil.• Fill the rest of the bottle with water (almost to the top but not

overflowing).• Add some food colouring. Be sure to make the water fairly dark in

colour. Notice that the food colouring only colours the water and not the oil. Hmmm...

• Divide the Asprin tablet into small pieces.• Drop one of the small pieces of asprin into the oil and water mixture.

Put the lid on. Watch what happens. • When the bubbling stops, add another chunk of Asprin. It’s just like a

lava lamp!

Book a staff meeting for during this week.

• Science Online - Divide readings up for staff to summarise and report back on. How can we do this- what does this look like for our school?

• How are we using the Science Curriculum? What do we want our kids to understand by the time they leave us?

• Science/Wonder Tables

• Integrating Science with Literacy and Maths

• Engaging Reluctant Writers with Science – Procedural Writing

• Using SOLO with Nature of Science • Nature of Science in the Classroom (self-directed power point presentations)

Set up trays with instructions and equipment in staffroom for teachers to take away and return

Daily science quizzes completed in classes

Book a Staff MeetingLet teachers know about workshops and National Experiments –

make bookings where necessaryPlan and start gathering resources for daily experiments for

classes that week

Organise a community evening – check calendar etc!

Tell the librarian- library display

Put some sort of “Count Down to Science Week” up in staff room

Get a team of colleagues/ parents to help organise daily events
