DEFINING ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

You are an academic if you are associated with an academy. An academy is commonly defined as a college or other organization focused on education.

To have integrity commonly means to act with honesty.

Thus, academic integrity can be defined as acting honestly in all college related activities. Although definitions and policies for academic integrity vary, they always involve an expectation for honesty.
