Aging
Problem of aging is an important problem of all times.
Those who are senior citizens of above the age of 50 - 65 are regarded as the aged.
It is the social welfare and social defense departments of the Government of India and many voluntary organizations that take care of the aged.
• Psychological Problems
– Abandonment from families make the elderly people
suffer from psychological stress
– Depression due to the thought that they are going to die
– The stress that arise due to the loss of their spouse,
either male or female
– Most of the elderly people suffer from mental
impairment and memory loss
– They suffer from depression due to the ill behaviour of
their children
– Emotional illness
– Sadness without any reasons
– Anxiety
– Loneliness
– Limited financial resources
– Lower income
– Lower social status
– Non-acceptance of aging
• Health Related Problems
– The elderly people are seen to suffer from many diseases
– They are likely to suffer from
• Insomnia
• Memory loss
• Energy loss
• Falling eye sight
• Hearing loss
• Heart problems
• Neurotic problems
• Stroke
• Dementia
• Obesity due to depression• Lower level of eating habits in some individuals• Paralysis
