Machete• We have chosen to use a machete as the murder weapon in

our film opening. We have made this decision as the large design of a machete is much scarier than other weapons such as knives as it looks and feels more dangerous and harmful due to its size. Also if we add fake blood or rust to the prop, it tells the viewers that the weapon is old and has been used many times, making the killer look like he has killed lots of people. In addition, not a lot of horror films use a machete as the murder weapon so we are being quite original in our choice of weapon.

Mobile Phone

• The use of a phone in our film will make the victim have a sense of hope, with him thinking he can call for help. However, in our opening the phone will run out of battery which will make the victim and audience anxious as they worry for the victim as he is isolated without a way to contact anyone.

Lamp post

• The use of a lamp post in our film opening will give light for the shots so the camera gets sufficient lighting, but it will also give the opening an eerie feel as it provides a small amount of yellow light onto the victim, highlighting them for the killer.

Book

• During the opening of our film, between the credits there will be flashes of the killer flicking through a book, with pictures and details of his past victims. The addition of this book will indicate to the audience that the killer is an expert in killing and the one kill seen after the opening credits will not be the only one and there is a bigger picture.
