The issues faced by the Sivananda Homes, Batu caves is the landscaping. There is a big land

that was meant to be a garden but is now poorly managed and abandoned for a long time.

Wild plant are growing everywhere and the soil is infertile. Mr. Bala asked us to clean the

garden area so that we can start the new landscaping. We were asked by the Mr. Bala to

design a planting structure that saves water and fertiliser. He also asked for a banquet table

with seats at both sides. The orphanage has a lot of broken door, bed and window

structures. We hope that we can help him to repair and clean up the orphanage for the sake

of the kids and provide them with a more comfortable living environment.

The organisation needs us to help them redesign their landscape, build a workable garden

that saves water and fertiliser. A banquet table is also needed by the orphanage to provide

the children with outdoor activities. The orphanage also need our help with fixing the

broken doors, beds and windows. Estimated duration needed is 5 weeks. The service will be

done in Sivananda Home, Batu Caves. The children will benefit the most from out work.

Estimated cost = RM 250.00. The environment strategies will be being able to save and

reduce usage of material (eg. wood), save water and also fertiliser.

For the fundraising activities, we will try to teach the orphanages (as Mr. Bala said) how to raise the fund by selling homemade products to decorate their garden.

The bookmarks are made from recyclable materials and the orphanage’s name will be

marked on the bookmarks.
