Among Nabila Khashoggi’s many accomplishments is her children’s comic book series, Spartan and the Green Egg, which details the adventures of children traveling and learning about the world’s cultures and environmental issues with a little help from some alien magic. Nabila Khashoggi took the initiative to publish her series independently, through Full Cycle Publications. So, how can someone interested in publishing comics get started?

like Marvel and DC, don’t accept unsolicited submissions; however, there are numerous independent presses, which often focus on a particular style or theme. 2. Follow the publisher’s instructions, paying attention to the submission requirements. Submissions that are not formatted properly are usually discarded. Work with your editor, and do not be discouraged by requests for revisions or changes.

3. Brand yourself. Think of yourself as a business, and market to your desired audience. Use websites and social media to spread the word about your work; attend book events, expos, and other public events. You may even consider developing an icon.
