Red Colour Captain: Your job is to check common spelling mistakes:

- There (over there) Their (their cat – shows belonging) - No (no way) Know (I know that) now (now that’s what I call music)- Your (your house – shows belonging) / You’re (you’re great)- Its (its mouth – shows belonging) / it’s (it is) - Too (too much) two (2) to (to go . . )

TODAY’S KEY WORDS: American / Dream / Lennie / George / Curley / Curley’s wife / Slim / Candy

Green Colour Captain: Check to make sure that NAMES of people and places have a capital letter.

Also check every sentence starts with a capital letter and no capitals are used in the middle of sentences

Eg: ‘Don’t worry,’ said John. Capital Letters – Names and Sentences

Blue Colour Captain: Your job is to read through the writing and make sure that full stops are

being used and that after each one is a capital letter.

Eg: It was a dark night and the house looked scary. Michael was a . . . .

Check that there is a capital letter after full stops

Black Colour Captain: Check to see if paragraphs are being used in the writing. Paragraphs should

be used when the writer changes Time Place Topic or Person

Check to see if the writing has paragraphs – If not, use // to add them in.
