Vintage IWC

Brand: Patek Philippe

Model: Calatrava 2526

Movement: Mechanical Automatic

The Patek Philippe Calatrava 2526 is a truly iconic watch. Patek Philippe has been creating stunning watches since the 1800s. However, the Calatrava 2526 is Patek Philippe’s first watch with a self-winding movement, beginning an era of magnificent and complicated watches from Patek Philippe. Many consider this watch to be the most iconic wrist watch. Less than 600 of these watches were ever made, making it an extremely rare watch. Another factor making this watch quite rare is the porcelain dial. Finding a Calatrava 2526 in good condition is difficult because porcelain dials are prone to hairline cracks. Because this watch marks a milestone in the illustrious history of Patek Philippe and features an intact porcelain dial, these factors significantly increase the watch’s value.

Factors Affecting Price

RarityVintage watches are typically rare because, chances are, they are no longer being produced, decreasing their supply, which drives up their value. Because demand for these rare and unique watches is high and the supply is low, this increases the value of these rare watches.

MovementThe movement of the watch greatly impacts the value of the watch. A mechanical watch movement is worth more than a watch with a quartz movement.

BrandSome brands, such as Rolex, are recognized all over the world, even by non-watch enthusiasts. This brand reputation can allow these brands to charge higher prices because customers know that they are purchasing a luxury watch of the highest quality.
