Questionnaire Results
Gender
Male 41%
Female 59%
For this study, I found that the majority of people that wanted to fill out my study was female
but only by a small percentage more than male.
This shows that more females read pop magazines but both genders were willing to read them. I am going to use the results of this study in the future to suggest who my
target audience is going to be for the magazines I produce so it appeals to the correct
people who would read them.

For this study, I concluded that my
main target audience of age groups is between 11-20. This is the ideal
age of people that would read a pop magazine so I am
going to mainly aim the magazine at this
audience however keep it quite broad as we can also see that there are people of
different age groups that read pop
magazines too.

From this study, I was trying to work out which artists people would expect to see in a typical pop magazine. From this, I have established that most people expect to see current artists in the charts to be in this magazine. This includes artists like Justin Bieber and Drake.

After this study, you can infer that the largest majority of people are most likely to buy the magazine due to what stories are inside it,
whether that is gossip or information on music events. Also a large majority are drawn into it due to the images on the front cover, and also the artists the
magazine includes. The minority care about the colour scheme
used throughout the magazine and the layout because they don't
intentionally think about it when buying a magazine, however it does subconsciously help them
make a decision of the magazine as certain colours and
organisation of a page draws people into picking it.

ColourBright Blue Red Green Pink YellowBlack White
Most people, when answering this question, decided that bright bold
colours is most expected on a pop magazine. This is due
to the pop magazines already on the market, for example Top Of The Pops,
which appeal to a young teen audience. Most of the colours
people picked were quite bold, with no or little mentions
of grey, black and white as they don't suit this genre. From this I will use more
bright colours on my front cover and through the
magazine however only use a maximum of 3 bright colours
to avoid a childish look.
What content do you expect to see in a pop magazine?
Interviews 24%
Music Charts 18%
Fashion 15%
Music Reviews 24%
Gossip 18%
The content people expect to see in a pop magazine is fairly equal. This includes
interviews and gossip with the artists, reviews on different
pop music, the charts of pop music to see what is
upcoming, and fashion tips and advice from the artists. This wide range is normally seen in all pop magazines
which is why most people are likely to choose equally. From this, I am probably going to do my double page spread
on an interview with an artist/group including some gossip.
What images do you expect to see in a pop magazine?
Behind The Scenes Images
21%
Images Of Artists 28%Live
Performance Images
17% Exclusive Images
34%
The response to the images people would normally expect to see in a pop magazine is broad.
However the majority would like to see exclusive images of an artist/
group that has not been seen before yet. Also professional
photoshoot images of artists is expected. Performance and
backstage images aren't quite as highly wanted. This makes me
come to the conclusion that in my magazine I should use a mixture
of exclusive images and performance images for the contents and double page
spread, but a professional photo for the cover page to make the magazine seem competent and therefore appeal to a broader
audience.
