WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF

CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?

- Canon DSLR 65D- Camera Lens

- Tripod- Microphone

- Lighting suitable to the filming of our opening

THE EQUIPMENT WE USED TO FILM OUR OPENING:

Page 3: Re do presontation

CANON DSLR 65D

Positives: - We were allowed to manually set the focus so

that the quality of our opening was much clearer and easier for the audience to view.

- The camera was small in size which meant it was easier for the camera man to do hand-held shots and just move it around in general.

Negatives: - For some reason at random times our camera

would just take random shots. This is probably just a faulty in our particular camera however it was quite time consuming as it happened quite regularly and we would have to delete them

- The camera life was quite short meaning we had to be quick with our filming.

CAMERA LENS

Positives: - The camera lens could be adjusted with ease

which made it easier to zoom in and out whenever we wanted.

- We could also use the camera lens to adjust the focus which was handy.

Negatives: - Sometimes the lens could get dirty and we would need to clean it as it could affect the quality of the film.

MICROPHONE

Positives:- Using the microphone meant that the

sound was much better quality making it seem more professional. Also using the microphone meant that we could get rid of any background sound that we didn’t want.

- It was very easy to position the microphone on top of the camera

Negatives: - In some of our scenes the background sound wasn’t completely cut out meaning that we had to edit it out ourselves.

LIGHTING

Positives:- The bright light we used for our filming worked well as we could use it to shine onto the names of the woman on the wall to make them stand out. - Also because the setting in which our opening was set in was

very dark it meant that we had to use the light to shine onto the antagonist which was very affective as it made him seem more creepy and unknown.

Negatives:- However one problem that we encountered with the bright light was the amount of shadows that it produced. For example when we shined the light onto the girls names on the wall we had to make sure that the antagonist wasn’t close as his shadow would also appear on the wall.

For the editing process of our opening we used a number of different programs, these included:

- Final Cut Pro- IMac

EDITING

Page 8: Re do presontation

FINAL CUT PRO

Positives: - Final Cut Pro was a brilliant program that

allowed us to get all the different clips from our camera and put them into order for the opening. We could then edit them in anyway we wanted and it was very easy to do.

- Before this project I had never used this program and to be honest it was quite easy to get used to and it didn’t take long for me to feel comfortable with the program.

Negatives:- One issue that we had was that for some reason our opening started on the 20th second which was annoying as we had to drag all of our clips back to the start where we wanted them.

Page 9: Re do presontation

IMAC

Postitives:- The Imac had loads of different programs

meaning the whole experience from editing our opening to uploading on our blogs a much easier task.

- We didn’t actually have to save our edited work on final cut pro as the Imac AutoSaved it for us. This was good because if it didn’t autosave we may accidently forget to save the work and all of the work would be deleted.

Negatives: - We had a problem on blogger where sometimes the uploads wouldn’t load up meaning that we couldn’t edit or view our work which was an issue.

Page 10: Re do presontation

I have learnt a lot during the editing process. One thing I have learnt is how to use final cut pro to produce to short film, before this project I had never used final cut pro but now I am confident that I know how to use it and produce a good short film, I now know how to insert pictures and music and I also know how to add all the special effects to make the film more

interesting. I have also learnt how to make an effective production and distribution logo and import it onto final cut pro to use in the film.

OTHER PROGRAMS I HAVE USED

Page 12: Re do presontation

BLOGGER

Positives:- Great way to share work with other

people.- It is easy to edit any pieces of work that

need improving.- You can embed videos, photos,

powerpoints etc which made it easier to produce my work.

Negatives: - We had one problem where the blogs didn’t load up which was a problem as it delayed our work.

Page 13: Re do presontation

PREZI

Positives: - It is a free program- It is very easy program to use- Great way to produce work- Easy to upload photos and videos- You can edit how your work looks which

makes it more interesting for the viewers to look at.

Negatives:- You can only access It if you have

internet connection.- It is difficult to add audio and sounds to

your work.- If it crashes work can be lost

Page 14: Re do presontation

POWERPOINT

Positives: - It is easy to add images and sounds.- The way the work looks can be easily

changed (Background, Font Style)- Work can be saved and then put

somewhere else.- The work can be as long as you want it to

be.

Negatives: - If you forget to save your work it will get

lost.- It is quite expensive to purchase.
