DESCRIPTION
The Reading Focus Cards, solutions for struggling readers, are customizable, teacher-created tools that help focus a reader's eyes on 1 to 2 lines of text and block out MORE surrounding text than any other tool available. Each Reading Focus Card Combo Pack contains ALL components for customizing two (2) different-sized tools for reading most printed formats. These tools also allow for changing the white background of a page of text in order to diminish or eliminate visual stress for some readers. The three different colored filters provided in every package for this purpose have been recommended by developmental optometrists. While helpful for new, young readers, the Reading Focus Cards (U.S. Patent 7,565,759), with their visual and tactile features, can also aid readers with sensory issues, ADHD, dyslexia, autism spectrum disorders, low vision, stroke recovery, TBIs, and other challenges affecting reading success. These reading aids can also be used for math placeholder work and algebraic or scientific equations. In addition, the Reading Focus Cards work well with e-readers and e-tablets (protective film is recommended for tech device screens for this application). Informal Focus Study (2007)
In 2007, a preliminary focus study found that the Reading Focus Cards:
1. (In a special needs classroom) Immediately helped 90% of children to focus and read better.
2. (In a general population sample---two 6th grade classes with no known learning disabilities) Helped 10% of children to read with more success.
Formal Focus Study (2011)
