Representation Jurassic World

The hero in Jurassic World is Owen. He is a male character and usually heroes tend to be male, white and young or middle-aged which Owen is. This is a typical representation of a hero because everything was normal but he rose to power because he had to face challenges. The villain is Vincent D'Onofrio. They are very well dressed and seem like all the other characters. The villain is a counter-type as usually villains wear certain outfits and props to connote that they are evil.In Jurassic World the character Claire is an uptight park manager begins the film almost rigid horribleness. She's failed to book the day off work to show her nephews round the park she manages because she is so focused on her career and can't even remember how old they are. She's rude and officious to male staff. This is stereotypical because women in most films are seen to be stuck up. Also, she shows how feminine she is as she's wearing nude heels which she steadfastly refuses to take off even when she's being chased by a terrifying monster of a genetically mutated dinosaur-"Indominus Rex" However further in the film she throws a bomb to stop the dinosaurs and usually this is supposed to be the male’s job.

[It] shows an isolated situation within a movie that has an internal logic. That starts with characters that are almost archetypes, stereotypes that are de-constructed as the story progresses. The real protagonist of the movie is Claire and we embrace her femininity in the story’s progression. There’s no need for a female character that does things like a male character, that’s not what makes interesting female characters in my view. Bryce and I have talked a lot about these concepts and aspects of her character.

The male and female characters are extremely different in the film Jurassic World. The female characters are shown as very feminine. For example, the park manager wears high heels and extremely white outfits even though she has to walk through a tonne of mud due to being a Park Manager to a dinosaur park. However the here, Owen, wears very distressed clothes; quite dull coloured and most of his clothes has holes in them. This shows the difference between both men and women in the film as it is showing how men don't care about if they have to get a bit

dirty however the women worry about their appearance. The park manager is also very petite which is a complete opposite to Owen; he has very large, broad shoulders and is well built unlike Claire (The park manager). The only prop Claire seems to have is her mobile phone. She used it for everything and is almost on it the whole time throughout the film however it is understandable because she is a business women and works had for a living. Owen, on the other hand only has his motorbike which has come in handy for him to run away from the dinosaurs when the characters are in trouble. The film suggests that working too much can cause you to almost lose precious time with family. This is shown in the film when Claire is too busy with her business to be looking after her nephews who she hasn't seen in 7 years and they get into trouble with dinosaurs and are in danger however they overcome this problem with the help of Owen. The film does also present a body image to girls. The main 2 women featured in the film (Claire and her secretary) are thin and very well dressed and the hero of the film is very muscular and seems to look after himself but he is also a bit messy and scruffy. These two characters are both good looking and I think they were featured in the film to attract the target audience to watch the film.
