Research-
WHY APPLIED OPERATIONS RESEARCH?
Research is often associated with test tubes; Bunsen burners, white lab-coats and Einstein-like characters writing complex formulas that can often intimidate or scare individuals. - But put in a simple way, Operations Research is the thorough process of studying and analysing factors surrounding a defined business problem in order to solve it.

MARKET RESEARCH:-
In a world economy that is in constant flux and undergoing turbulence, more companies are
realizing that their most precious asset is their customer base. An even more important
realization is the need to satisfy the whims and fancies of these customers in order to survive
in these increasingly competitive markets. Organizations that do not act on this dictum have
suffered the loss of market share or worse, total annihilation. Such dire consequences have
awakened many organizations to rethink the way they see marketing. Thus, there is urgency
for an organization (be it products or service providers) as a whole to develop appropriate
holistic customer-focused strategies to ensure that the customer remains at the core of their
organizational thinking.
With the rapid advancement of information technology (especially the rise of the Web) and
the increasing difficulties of meeting customer’s needs and wants (for example, their
expectations of 24 / 7 customer service especially for online transactions), there is a shift
from a traditional marketing approach to customer targeted marketing. Many organizations
and marketing consultants are emphasizing the need to allocate more funds to apply new-
found knowledge of consumer behavior in new products development, build better customer
relationships through customer loyalty and retention programs.

What are the most exciting aspects of working in McKinsey teams? Our consultants generally say the following:
Addressing a difficult client problem with unique solutions Observing truly 'global' teams in action, leveraging individual areas of expertise Calling on the vast McKinsey global network. If a problem exists, there is a high
chance that someone in McKinsey has worked on it

Services:-
Transforming public health in India:
The need has long been felt given the serious public health challenges facing India: rising disease rates; the resurgence of communicable and non-communicable diseases like diabetes, cancer; and the emergence of other health burdens like injuries from accidents.
The Foundation's charter includes:
Establishing five to seven new institutes of public health. Assisting existing institutes to enhance their capacity and output. Promoting research in prioritised areas of public health to inform policy and empower
programmes. Facilitating policy development, programme evaluation, and advocacy on public
health related issues. Enabling the development of standards and adoption of a credible accreditation
system for public health courses.
Building the Indian School of Business (ISB):McKinsey supported a unique project to establish a business school in India. The idea was conceived in 1996, and the Indian School of Business was born in July 2001.
The team played a key role in taking the idea from conception to reality: (i) assisting the executive board of the ISB in conceptualising the idea, (ii) working to garner support from the industry and academicians, (iii) supporting the fund raising efforts, (iv) selecting a location, (v) building a world-class business school, and (vi) entering into partnerships with leading schools in the U.S. and Europe.
Vision Mumbai:-
The study suggested that Mumbai needed $40 billion in investments over the next 10 years for its transformation. More importantly, it laid out a blueprint that comprised of an eight-pronged program to transform Mumbai into a world-class city. These are:
1. Boost economic growth to 8 - 10 percent per annum by focusing on services ( high- and low-end), developing countryside-based manufacturing, and making Mumbai a consumption center.
2. Improve and expand mass and private transport infrastructure, including linkages to the countryside.
3. Dramatically increase low-income housing availability and affordability, and improve housing stock.
4. Upgrade safety, air and water pollution control, sanitation, education, and health care.
5. Create a dedicated "Mumbai Infrastructure Fund" with an annual funding of around US $ 300 million and attract debt and private financing.
6. Make governance more effective, efficient, and responsive by making key departments operate like corporations and streamlining important processes such as building approvals.
7. Generate momentum through quick wins: focus on some quick "on the ground" implementation that will be visible in a period of 1-2 years.
8. Enable implementation through committed public-private resources and make key government organisations accountable for results.
The report, Vision Mumbai, played an important role in influencing policy makers both at the central and state levels to recognise and address the immediate need for urban renewal in the city. Taking off from the recommendations, the government of Maharashtra has established an Empowered Committee chaired by the Chief Secretary and Citizen Action Group to drive key projects like the Mumbai Metro and the Mumbai Trans Harbor Link. The recommendations made by Vision Mumbai also served as a useful basis to seek funding of over US $1 billion from the government of India for the transformation of Mumbai under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
Introduction-
The future is coming. It will bring far-reaching challenges and incredible opportunities. Helping companies measure, interpret, predict, and navigate this future is what Decision Analyst is all about.
That is the reason for Decision Analyst’s emphasis on Strategic Research; Mathematical Modeling, and Optimization; Economic Forecasting and Econometric Modeling; In-Depth Qualitative Investigations; and Innovation and Ideation Services. It’s all about the future. Decision Analyst has the people, experience, technology, systems, and analytics to help you better anticipate and navigate that future.
Decision Analyst is a leading, global marketing research, and analytical consulting firm, serving a number of corporations, advertising agencies, and consulting firms. The name, Decision Analyst, reflects the company's decision-oriented, analytical corporate philosophy.
The firm conducts multinational studies on an array of topics, spanning industries from packaged goods to high technology. The firm places great value on hard work, meeting deadlines, and staying within budgets. The nexus of Decision Analyst’s efforts is decision-oriented marketing research and analytical consulting—focused on helping its Clients build and sustain a winning business model. Research must lead to decisions, to actions, that improve the long-term chances of success. The education and training of our staff reinforce this decision-analytical and business model emphasis. Decision Analyst seeks the synergy inherent in combining qualitative research, quantitative research, DecisionSystems™, secondary data, economic analysis, and advanced analytics (marketing science and operations research techniques), as guided by the objectives of each research project.
A Spirit of Service, A Spirit of Caring-
This creed defines how Decision Analyst treats its clients, employees, and subcontractors. The firm believes that a “spirit of service” and a “spirit of caring” must underlie and pervade
11. Marketing Research and Analytical Consulting
everything it does. Service and caring are the foundations of employee teamwork, employee retention, quality assurance, and long-term relationships with client companies
Innovation Imperative
An organization's ability to survive is defined by its capacity to innovate. Companies must continuously adapt to changing markets, changing technologies, and changing consumer habits and preferences. That's where we can help. Innovation is what we do.
More Than New Products
Innovation is more than just coming up with ideas for new products. We help companies apply the creativity process to improve their marketing, including:
New service concepts New branding strategies New customer experiences New brand names New positioning concepts New promotion ideas New packaging ideas New display and point-of-sale ideas
Consumer-Led Innovation
The process begins by involving individuals who are exceptionally creative. The Imaginators®, Decision Analyst's online consumer creativity panel, is comprised of everyday people who have been tested for high levels of "idea-centric creativity"—the ability to generate large numbers of highly original ideas for new products and services. To date, more than 220,000 people have been tested using our proprietary testing system. Each panelist ranks in the top 4% of the general population in terms of idea-centric creative abilities. As a result, the Imaginators' ideas are truly unique and often breakthrough in nature.
Idea-centric creativity can be identified among nonconsumer groups as well. To date, nearly 75,000 business and trade professionals have been evaluated for idea-centric creativity.
Ideation Sessions
The typical focus group setting—ten chairs arranged around a long table—is excellent for gathering respondents' opinions and reactions, but it is not the right environment for innovation. Innovation flourishes in an environment that stimulates the brain's right side.
That's why our ideation sessions involve creativity exercises, games, associations, unstructured environments (no tables or chairs), spider mapping, guided visualization, and a variety of proprietary techniques developed by Decision Analyst, including "Zoom Out" and "A Picture Is Worth ...Lots."
Innovation Isn't Instantaneous
Often the most creative ideas take a while to surface, or they develop as a result of several smaller ideas coming together. The more time participants have to think about a problem and build on the ideas put forward by others, the more likely it is that the end results will be truly unique and innovative. Innovation sessions are conducted over relatively long periods of time. In-person sessions last six to eight hours, while an online session can extend over a period of ten business days.
Idea Generation Structure
Decision Analyst's approach to innovation is a bit different; we use a systemized, creative, problem-solving model based on Socratic inquiry. Our sessions follow a proprietary creativity guide that is objective- and exercise-oriented rather than discussion-oriented. This guide provides the subtle structure that is critical to generating highly unique ideas and suggestions.

the International Chamber of Commerce, sets out global guidelines for self-regulation for
researchers and has been undersigned by all ESOMAR members and adopted or endorsed by
more than 60 national market research associations worldwide.
In addition to the ICC/ESOMAR Code, the ESOMAR Professional Standards team also
