• India is located in Southern Asia. • It stretches from the Himalayas in the North to the

India - Population

• India has over 1 billion people – approximately 1.06billion.

• Around 75% of these people work in rural areas as farmers.

• But – more and more people are moving to the cities.

India’s Climate

• India has two seasons – a dry season and a monsoon season.

• During a monsoon there is heavy rain for around 3 months of the year.

Rich World – Poor World

• In this course we are going to look at the different lifestyles of people in India and also similarities and differences between India and the UK.

• Some things to think about are why people move from rural to urban areas, what problems might there be for people moving to the cities? What about planning for all the new people arriving?
