Running the BasesA Social Story
When it is your turn to bat, step up to home plate.
Stand in the batter’s box facing home plate. Look at
the pitcher.
Hit the ball with your bat when the pitcher throws the
ball.
Run to first base before the other team throws the ball
there.
You must run the bases in order, going counter-clockwise.
Stay on the base until your teammate hits the ball, then
run to the next base.
If the other team throws the ball to the base before you get
there, you are out!
If you get out, run back to your dugout.
Try to get to every base before your team has 3 outs.
If you make it to home plate, you will score a run for your
team!
If your team scores the most runs, your team will win.
Whether you win or lose, shake the other team’s hand at the
end of the game.
