All business letters are sales letters written to sell something.- Product- Policy- Idea- Service- Information

• Document designed to generate sales.• Convinces the reader to place an order.• Request additional information.• Lend support to the product or service
offered.
Advantages:
• Less costly• Convenient• Effective• Addressed to specific audience or target
market.• Very comprehensive.
7 Commandments of Writing Sales Letters
1. Focus on what your prospect wants, needs, hopes, dreams and desires…or appeal to their emotions!
2. Never forget that benefit sell!3. Always write to someone specific.4. Get your reader’s attention immediately.5. You must write to sell.6. Don’t put them to sleep.7. Please tell them exactly what you want them to do.
Parts of Sales Letter
Sales Letters are not ‘Announcement’.
A. Headline- Usually 3-30 words long should attract the
immediately the attention of the reader.- Promises that the product will surely benefit the
reader.- Substitutes for the inside address and
salutation.
• Should be in a colored textbox.• Font styles should be attractive.• Use power words like “You, Finally, At Last, Free,
Proven, Imagine, Fast, Cheap, enjoy, now, Learn, etc.”
