Statement of Purpose

First I would like to express my appreciation for this opportunity to apply for Master in

Experimental Geosciences in University of Bayreuth. I am a graduate of University of

Engineering and Technology, Lahore Pakistan, holding a degree in Geological Engineering.

With the background knowledge I have in Geological Engineering, I strongly feel that a Master's

course in Experimental Geosciences will be very relevant to my plan back here in my country,

Pakistan. I desire a master degree in this field not only because it is the most fulfilling way I can

exercise my natural talents as a scholar, but because it also gives me the opportunity to solve

challenges directly impacting my community.

Upon receiving my Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering, I plan to continue my

education by pursuing a Master’s degree in Experimental Geosciences. My interest in

Experimental Geosciences was sparked by topics such as earthquake engineering, Geophysics

and structure of earth related subjects. Also different software introduced to me in my

Geophysics and Geology. I am interested in a broad range of topics including Planetary Geology,

System of the solid earth and Geodynamic software and would like to further my knowledge of

concepts similar to these through my graduate program of study.

During my four years at the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore I have gained

the qualifications and work ethic necessary to be a successful graduate student. I was first

introduced into the world of research and experimental after my 3rd year at UET Lahore,

wherein I had the opportunity to work in the Geological engineering departments labs under Dr.

Zubair Abu Bakar Chairman of the Department of Geological Engineering, for a project titled

“Performance Prediction of machine Excavators through Lab Testing”. The project essentially

comprised of research work on Designing of a model of Linear Rock Cutting Machine and study

the cutters impacts on the cutting of rocks in dry and wet conditions.

Lastly, as a Master’s student my goal is to make a direct contribution to the growth and

advancement of the field of Experimental Geosciences through my research and studies.

Following graduate school, I would like to establish a consulting career specializing in

Experimental Geosciences. In this position, I will utilize the knowledge and problem solving

skills I have a strong desire to learn the new concepts, and self-reliance to face challenges put

forth Under any circumstances. And moreover I strongly believe that a Master degree will be a

deciding factor in shaping my future. I shall be elated if an opportunity is given to me to pursue

my Master. And finally I am confident that the technical knowledge that I acquire will help me in

playing a constructive role in the progress of mankind.
